Lucas Coenen stood out in the MXGP of Germany for the MX2 Motocross World Championship. The rider won both races held this Sunday in Teutschenthal.
After taking the holeshot, the Nestaan Husqvarna man led every lap of the first race, in which his teammate Kay de Wolf was the main pursuer from start to finish. Coenen took the win with a 3.664s lead, while Simon Längenfelder (Red Bull GasGas) finished third, 25.075s off the top.
Determined to win at home, Längenfelder took the holeshot and led the first lap of race 2, but was overtaken by de Wolf on the second lap. Coenen had to recover positions and reached the top on the seventh lap, never looking back. He pulled away and beat de Wolf by 9.505s, while Längenfelder had to settle for another third place.
The overall results of the MXGP of Germany in MX2 are therefore easy to calculate: Coenen was the absolute winner with 50 points, compared to De Wolf’s 44 points, while Längenfelder closed the podium with 40 points.
