Honda’s results in MotoGP continue to leave much to be desired, as do their performances on track. However, this is far from meaning a lack of work and effort to improve the situation.
After five rounds, the best rider for the brand is Joan Mir (Repsol Honda) in 18th in the championship, with two 12th places as best results. In the constructors’ championship, the Japanese have only 17 points, while in the teams’ championship LCR Honda is tenth with 15 points – just ahead of the factory Repsol Honda team, with 12 points.
Despite the situation, Luca Marini – who has not scored yet – sees signs of a reaction. The Italian told Nico Abad, quoted by the website Motosan.es, that the RC213V is already very different from the one that started the pre-season in February:
– Now after the tests we did in Mugello and also in Barcelona, we looked for many interesting things. The bike has changed a lot from the first test in Malaysia until now. I try to give the best possible indications, following our direction we will surely end this season well and we will see next year.
Marini is not lacking in confidence, and also rules out the scenario of leaving Honda at the end of 2024 – his contract is also valid for the 2025 season: ‘I have never been more sure of my relationship with Honda,’ he emphasized.
