The topic of tire pressure is more on the table than ever, and Francesco Bagnaia himself had a warning in Sepang not to let the issue go unnoticed and even admitted that he felt a little scared at one point.
Regarding the topic, the world champion once again admitted that at one point he was not very sure if he was within the limits: ‘I was very scared because I felt that the pressure of my tires was not correct at the start. I decided to let the two KTM bikes pass and as I followed them, I started to feel better with the front, maybe it was just the temperature but for me it was the pressure. In the first laps I had some difficulties, I was shaking a lot and felt that I was not at the correct pressure, but as soon as I followed the KTM, it started to improve, and I felt better and better. I think that was helpful because without it I believe I was below the pressure. It was perfect’.
Bagnaia explained afterwards that it was a complicated weekend and where it was difficult to keep everything within legal parameters, but he didn’t forget that, even if he ended up being penalized, he already had some margin of maneuver, since he had already secured the championship:
– This weekend was very difficult to be precise in terms of tire pressure honestly. I was thinking about it and I was even a little scared because I know how easy it is to go below the pressure and be penalized, and I had already received a warning in Malaysia. So, three seconds of penalty this Sunday was not a problem because I was already champion but still my team did a fantastic job.
