Liam Everts won the MXGP of Trento on Sunday, counting for the MX2 motocross World Championship. Although he didn’t win any of the races, he was the rider who scored the most points.
Kay de Wolf arrived in Pietramurata after winning the first three rounds of the year. However, the events in Italy were different, and the championship leader was unable to maintain the streak.
In the first race, Sacha Coenen (Red Bull KTM) led in the early laps after taking the holeshot, with de Wolf (Nestaan Husqvarna) in second until completing the pass on the fifth lap. From then on, he never let go of the position and even finished in first place with a 3.751s lead over Thibault Benistant (Monster Energy Yamaha). Everts (Red Bull KTM) finished third, while Coenen retired two laps from the end.
The holeshot in the second race was taken by Simon Längenfelder (Red Bull GasGas), while de Wolf fell early on and fell behind. No one had the pace to surpass Längenfelder, who secured the win in the race 9.975s ahead of Everts. The Belgian moved ahead of Andrea Bonacorsi (Monster Energy Yamaha) on the sixth lap, being the main pursuer of Längenfelder until the end. Bonacorsi was third, followed by Benistant. De Wolf recovered to eighth place.
In the overall classification of the MXGP of Trento in MX2, Everts was the winner with 42 points, two more than Benistant. Längenfelder was third with 38 points, de Wolf was fourth with the same 38 points, and Camden Mc Lellan (Monster Energy Triumph) completed the top five.
