Levi Kitchen is the big winner of the first AMA Supercross 250 Triple Crown, West Zone. The Kawasaki rider was the most consistent in Anaheim, with a 1-2-3 to win the overall at Angel Stadium, which also gives him a shared lead in the championship with Jordon Smith.
Kitchen was the best right from the first heat, where he won “at the limit,” with a 0.723s advantage over second-place RJ Hampshire, after leading all 12 laps. Nate Thrasher finished in third place, ahead of Smith and Ryder DiFrancesco – fourth and fifth respectively.
In the second race, the highlight was RJ Hampshire, who took the lead after the third lap, succeeding Phillip Nicoletti. From that moment until the end, he would not be dethroned, and finished with a 0.870s advantage over second-place Kitchen, while Jo Shimoda secured the podium.
Thrasher took the victory in the final race, with Shimoda finishing second and Kitchen third.
So, after being the most consistent, Kitchen won the round and scored 25 points to “catch up” with Smith in the championship lead, both currently with 84 points. RJ Hampshire has 76.
