Once again, Marc Márquez faced rookie Pedro Acosta at the Portuguese MotoGP Grand Prix. The two battled for fifth place for a few laps, until the younger of the Spaniards managed to overtake.
After that, Márquez spent some time behind Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM), being able to observe his riding. After the race, the six-time champion from Gresini had many compliments for his opponent:
– It’s good to follow him, because he rides with that rookie mindset. I don’t mean reckless, but he simply rides using a lot of the curbs, using a lot of the tires, and he simply had an incredible race. He was quite fast. I said before the Qatar race: he will fight for podiums and wins this year. Let’s see if he can fight for the title immediately.
Márquez added: ‘He is one of the great names of the championship in the previous categories and he will be one of the great names of the future and the present. Therefore, he is driving quite well’.
