The new regulations have brought many new features for 2027. One of these new features is the removal of the holeshot device from motorcycles.
With this change, many manufacturers who have more difficulties with their holeshots will be able to benefit from this decision and make the MotoGP world championship much more interesting.
Speaking to GPOne, Aprilia’s Paolo Bonora talked about this new feature and what it could mean from 2027 onwards.
– We’re part of this spectacle and we’re happy to develop it more and more. Starts are becoming less and less varied, there’s less room for error and that’s detrimental to the show. Completely eliminating the front and rear undercuts will reduce costs and put the rider at the center of the action: less technique and more rider, in short. The same applies to exiting corners, where the bike will have more chance of turning up, which it doesn’t now; the rider is less involved at this stage.
He added of Aprilia’s adaptation to the new regulations: ‘We’re part of this show and we’re happy to develop it more and more. We’ve realized that we have to sacrifice some things from a technical point of view to make our sport more fun. We see a bright future, also thanks to the entry of Liberty Media. This regulation was a collaborative compromise between all the constructors.
