The new regulations have brought many changes for 2027. One of these novelties is the removal of the start system, or the “holeshot” device from the bikes.
With this change, many manufacturers who have more difficulties with their start device may benefit from this decision and make the MotoGP World Championship much more interesting.
In statements, according to GPOne, Paolo Bonora from Aprilia spoke about this novelty and what it may influence from 2027.
– We are part of this show and we are happy to develop it more and more. The starts are becoming less varied, there is less room for errors, and this is detrimental to the show. The total elimination of front and rear lower cuts will reduce costs and put the rider at the center of the action: less technique and more rider, in short. The same applies to corner exits, where the bike will have more chances to turn up, which does not happen now; the rider is less involved in this phase.
He also added about Aprilia’s adaptation to the new regulations: ‘We are part of this show and we are happy to develop it more and more. We understand that we have to sacrifice some things from a technical point of view to make our sport more fun. We see a bright future, also thanks to the entry of Liberty Media. This regulation was a collaborative compromise between all the constructors.’
