KTM claims the 990RC R is designed for ‘the practical demands of the road’ with less pressure on the wrists and adjustable footrests. The bike weighs just 57kg, with a steel frame designed for performance and a forward-facing weight balance.

The launch marks KTM’s return to the road-legal sportbike segment since the RC8 V-twin, which went out of production in 2016. The 990RC R will begin production in Mattighofen, Austria, in early 2025, equipped with WP suspension Apex and Brembo brakes.

KTM hopes the 990RC R will stand out in the resurgent supersport motorcycle market, competing with the likes of the Honda CBR600RR and Ducati Panigale V2.

The Austrian manufacturer also announced that the 990 will begin rolling off the production line in Mattighofen, Austria, in early 2025, equipped with fully adjustable WP Apex open cartridge suspension, leading to five-spoke cast aluminum wheels wrapped in tires. Michelin.

Brembo brakes will be present at both ends – no doubt equipped with lean-sensitive ABS when cornering, as on the current 990 Duke. It is not yet known exactly which tires will be used, with the prototype seen here using slicks.
