With many seats still to be defined for the 2025 MotoGP season, market rumors are plentiful. At KTM, only Brad Binder is fully confirmed so far, and one of the speculated names for the manufacturer is Marc Márquez. However, KTM Motorsports director Pit Beirer does not consider this to be realistic and wants to also keep Augusto Fernández, Jack Miller, and young talent Pedro Acosta.
In statements to Motorsport-Magazin, the German clarified that he intends to keep the four riders for the future: ‘Of course, we have two fantastic riders in Brad and Pedro, in whom we believe a lot and in whom we have a lot of confidence for the future. My desire has not changed: I want to continue with our four riders‘.
Although acknowledging that Miller and Fernández have not been showing ideal performance, Beirer emphasized that both have time to show progress at this stage:
– To be honest, the performances of Jack and Augusto are too short for a place in MotoGP, which is so valuable. We are already at a stage where we still have time, but not much. Augusto and Jack don’t have to take huge steps, but rather small steps forward to stabilize the team. Of course, there is movement in the rider market and other names that sound very good approach us, and this makes you think.
As for Márquez specifically, the KTM director denied that it is an option: ‘Marc Márquez has been a hero for us in this sport since we competed in MotoGP. We have enormous respect for Marc. But I don’t think it’s a realistic option for us. We have to think about the brutality Marc has gone through. I spoke with him last summer and his desire was simply to find a bike with which he knew he could be completely competitive. With this bike he wanted to return to the top and he succeeded. So I don’t see him changing brands, which would mean a completely new start for him. Marc is a brilliant rider, but I don’t think it’s realistic for us to talk about his commitment‘.
