This year, Marc Márquez will be a rider for Gresini in MotoGP, in what is his first experience outside of Honda and with a satellite team. But in 2025, he could very well return to a factory… but with KTM.
The website Corse di Moto writes that the Mattighofen manufacturer has already had some contact with the rider’s manager, Jaime Martínez, since last summer. And, as is known, Márquez’s contract with Gresini is only for one year.
Some believe that it could be a kind of transition while Honda recovers the lost competitiveness in recent years – taking advantage of the concessions to which it will have access.
On the other hand, being in a Ducati satellite team – which has had the strongest bike recently – the #93 is also linked to the Borgo Panigale manufacturer. And there is no one under contract for 2024, not even the two-time champion Francesco Bagnaia.
If Márquez has a strong season and regains the “smile inside the helmet” as much as he wants, he could then be in an advantageous position to choose between several competitive options for 2025.
KTM currently has Brad Binder under contract until the end of 2025, while Jack Miller’s contract ends this year. The Austrians have ambitions to achieve success and Márquez could be crucial for that goal. In addition, there is a common sponsor – Red Bull.
On the other hand, the manufacturer also has several young talents who could be the “tomorrow” of MotoGP, such as Augusto Fernández and Pedro Acosta, and few places to put the next contenders who are currently competing in Moto2 and Moto3. Choosing a veteran like Márquez at this time could go against this project of developing future promises.
