Pedro Acosta will debut in MotoGP in 2024 with GasGas Tech3. His impact in Moto3 and Moto2 was immediate. Despite this track record, KTM ensures that they will give the rookie the time he needs to adapt to a category with much higher demands, without putting pressure on him.
KTM team manager Francesco Guidotti told GPOne.com: ‘He certainly has a very significant resume: in his first year he won the Moto2 title, in the second he was second in Moto2, and in the third he was world champion [in Moto2]. These results leave little room for interpretation for the rider, but in MotoGP he will face opponents at his level. He will have to gain experience, but it seems that he is not very afraid of this new adventure. It is certain that he is an intelligent and light-hearted person, despite his playful appearance he is very “straight”‘.
The Italian emphasized that the MotoGP bike is very different from the others and will require an adaptation: ‘MotoGP is completely different from any other bike, so he will have to get used to it. One day of testing is too little, but he got on the bike, fell, which was also good for the conditions, so let’s wait before making any comments‘. That said, Guidotti ensured that KTM will not pressure Acosta, despite relying heavily on the promising rider: ‘We don’t want to put pressure on him, but we are all very confident and will give him the time he needs. He has shown that he adapts very quickly in other categories and I hope he does the same in MotoGP. He is a young man we trust a lot and has made his entire career at KTM, like [Brad] Binder‘.
