KTM has some new features on its bike for the 2024 MotoGP season, and with just two days left of pre-season testing, the work is far from over. This is because the development of a motorcycle is an ongoing process, never static.
Team manager Francesco Guidotti mentioned that the chassis of the new RC16 is the same one debuted by Dani Pedrosa at last year’s San Marino GP: ‘I don’t like the all new. The chassis will be the one we used in the last five races. It’s kind a new chassis because we were quite brave introducing it in the GPs after a short test with Dani and the wildcard in Misano. I would say it’s brave to introduce it because we didn’t really knew. But we needed to introduce it to get experience. We know that the best test ever is during the GP, so the riders after testing in Misano were really happy to use it in the GPs, also facing some risk’.
With two days of testing still remaining, the Italian leader spoke broadly about what is planned: ‘For the coming test we already had to decide the spec of the engine and of course some aero details. And on the electronics side we start with a new experience, let’s say, so we still have a lot of room to improve there. The next two days will be crucial for something, but at the same time we have to spend some time to prepare the race, because after two weeks there will be the first race and it will be important to collect some real information’.
