The news may not be so surprising, but the timing is. The Pierer Group has accelerated its acquisition of MV Agusta, now acquiring the majority with 50.1%, according to a plan that originally scheduled this step only in 2026. The Austrians’ entry had occurred in November 2022 with the acquisition of 25.1% and direct management of supplies and the commercial area of the Schiranna brand.
Subsequently, the plan for a gradual acquisition of the majority emerged, and consequently, the increasing entry of MV into the dynamics of the Pierer Group. Formally, however, everything has remained under the control of Timur Sardarov, the Russian entrepreneur who bought MV Agusta in September 2019 and who will now remain in a less operational role as vice president to ensure a smooth transition.
We do not know the motivations behind KTM’s decision to take advantage of the initially planned option until December 2025 to increase its stake so early. What all fans hope to see is a great renewal project. The new president and CEO will be Hubert Trunkenpoltz, number two and member of the board of directors of KTM.
