KOVE is setting its sights on the competitive 250cc motocross market with the upcoming MX250, due to launch in Japan in August 2025. This new model introduces the second generation of KOVE’s engine architecture and reinforces the company’s ambition to become a serious global player in off-road performance.

At its heart is a newly developed 249.9cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine producing 40.8 hp at 12,000 rpm and 27 Nm at 9,500 rpm, tuned for high-end power delivery while remaining controllable under race conditions. The chassis features a high-strength double-cradle steel frame with an aluminium subframe, resulting in a dry weight of just 101 kg. The narrow 190 mm seat further enhances control and rider adaptability.

Suspension travel reaches 310 mm at the front and 117 mm at the rear, with DLC-coated front forks for improved longevity and reduced friction. Riders can toggle between Sport and Eco modes, adjusting engine response to suit terrain and style. The braking system features discs front and rear, paired with motocross-ready wheels — 80/100-21 front, 100/90-19 rear — for maximum traction.

The design is rugged and purpose-driven, reflecting the brand’s competition focus. With a 7-litre fuel tank, lightweight construction, and a performance-focused setup, the MX250 is tailored for serious riders looking for factory-level specs at a competitive price point.

KOVE isn’t a newcomer to the off-road world. The brand has earned growing respect on the global stage, with active participation in major rally events like the Dakar and Taklamakan, where it has proven surprisingly competitive. That racing experience directly informs the design and engineering choices seen in the MX250.

Looking ahead, KOVE has already announced the development of Enduro and Rally variants of both the MX250 and the upcoming MX350, scheduled for 2026. With this, the company is building a full-spectrum off-road lineup aimed at everything from short-track motocross to long-distance rally raid. For riders seeking a serious, race-ready 250cc machine, the MX250 might just be the new benchmark.
