Kay de Wolf was the strongest in the MXGP Switzerland qualifying race, for the MX2 Motocross World Championship. The rider did not always lead in Frauenfeld, but he was almost always at the top.

The holeshot went to Valerio Lata (Honda HRC), who led the first laps before being overtaken by de Wolf (Nestaan Husqvarna). From the fourth lap onward, the Dutchman was never caught by the opponents.

Lata held on to second place for a while, but by the end, he would drop to sixth. It was only on the tenth lap that he lost two positions, to Simon Längenfelder (Red Bull KTM) and Liam Everts (Nestaan Husqvarna).

Although he led throughout, de Wolf did not finish comfortably, crossing the line just 1.798s ahead of Längenfelder. Everts was third, and Andrea Adamo (Red Bull KTM) recovered from a fall to finish fourth.

Thibault Benistant (Monster Energy Yamaha) completed the top five ahead of Lata. The main MX2 races in Switzerland will be on Monday, with a break on Easter Sunday.
