José Antonio Rueda will not compete in the Moto3 Grand Prix of the Americas race. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider suffered an appendicitis and had to undergo emergency surgery.
According to the Finnish team, the Spanish rider started feeling unwell after yesterday’s qualifying session where he finished second, and was attended to at the circuit’s medical center. He was then taken to a hospital.
Tests revealed an acute appendicitis, and Rueda underwent a successful surgery yesterday. Now, he will have to recover, missing this afternoon’s race in Austin.
The recovery time is still unclear. The next round is in two weeks in Jerez. Recently, in Formula 1, Carlos Sainz also suffered an appendicitis and underwent surgery, managing to return to action two weeks later. However, as expected, the demands of F1 and Moto3 are different.
