Jorge Prado did not leave his credits in the hands of others at the MXGP of Spain, the second round of the MXGP motocross World Championship. The home rider dominated overwhelmingly at intu Xanadú, with victories in the two main races this Sunday after also being superior in the qualifying race held yesterday.
The first race saw Prado (Red Bull GasGas) leading every lap. Initially, his main pursuer was Romain Febvre (Monster Energy Yamaha), but the Frenchman fell behind on the sixth lap and gave way to Tim Gajser (Team HRC) and Jeffrey Herlings (Red Bull KTM). At the front, Prado did not give his opponents any chances and built a solid lead, eventually beating Gajser by 8.400s. Herlings finished third, 10.531s behind, with Febvre in fourth and Maxime Renaux (Monster Energy Yamaha) in fifth.
The story of the second race was not much different. Once again, Prado took the lead at the beginning and never let go, but this time Gajser was always in second place. The Slovenian had no answer for his opponent. Despite slowing down a bit on the last lap, Prado won with a 6.133s lead. Febvre finished third in the race ahead of Herlings, while Calvin Vlaanderen (Monster Energy Yamaha) was fifth. Renaux did not start the race and Coldenhoff was disqualified. In the overall classification of the MXGP of Spain, Prado was the winner with the maximum score of 50 points, six more than Gajser. Febvre completed the podium 12 points behind the winner, tied with Herlings.
