After long minutes of interruption due to heavy rain, there was an attempt to restart the MotoGP Japanese Grand Prix race in Motegi. However, the warm-up lap revealed that the track was still unmanageable. Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati), who was the winner, was surprised by this almost restart.
The Spanish rider said in a press conference that, moments before heading out to the track to resume the race, he had told Dorna’s managing director, Carlos Ezpeleta, that the conditions were very difficult:
– I was very surprised, because two minutes before I spoke to Carlos and said: “Now it’s quite difficult.” And as soon as I spoke to him, we went out on track. The conditions were the same and with less light, so it was difficult. I was surprised.
