Few or no doubts at this point: Jorge Martín is unlikely to stay with Pramac Racing from 2025 onwards, with the rider talking about it once again today in Austin.
The current leader of the MotoGP world championship has often said that he wants to be a factory rider and reiterated that desire today by saying: ‘Even if Pramac changes [manufacturer], I don’t think I will stay here’.
Martinator addressed the issue at a time when different rumors are circulating in the MotoGP paddock regarding the future of Pramac, as the team’s contract with Ducati has not been (yet) renewed, at least as far as is publicly known, although Gino Borsoi has already told GPOne: ‘Practically everything is already signed, we can put an end to these stories. It would take the world to collapse for us to change’.
Nevertheless, rumors continue to emerge linking Pramac to Yamaha, but whatever happens, Martín has made it clear that his desire is to be in a factory team. Ducati knows #89 like no one else and has the most coveted spot on the grid… and only Pecco Bagnaia is secured.
According to rumors, Aprilia reportedly tried to “attack” Fabio Quartararo who decided to stay with Yamaha, leaving the Japanese with an available spot, while KTM also has Brad Binder secured.
Honda’s factory team has signed Luca Marini to a two-year contract, but there is an available spot as Joan Mir is not secured.
Whatever happens, Martín will certainly be one of the riders who can (and will) shake up the market, as Aprilia still has two vacant seats, while Ducati, Honda, KTM and Yamaha should theoretically have a spot available, but with riders like Martín and Marc Márquez (free in 2025), Enea Bastianini, Joan Mir, Maverick Viñales and others like Pedro Acosta – having an excellent start to the season – the only certainty is that some heavyweights on the grid will have to settle for a satellite seat. … or risk staying at home.
