Apparently, the only open spot in MotoGP for 2024 is at Repsol Honda, but there could still be a swap. In recent days, rumors have emerged about Jorge Martín moving to the official Ducati team, while Enea Bastianini would take his place at Pramac.
The newspaper AS writes that ‘the doors of the official Ducati garage are opening again‘ for Martín – who is currently fighting for the title with Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) just three rounds from the end of the season. Meanwhile, Bastianini, who was the favorite for the spot alongside Bagnaia in 2023, has had a difficult season marred by several injuries.
Martín’s numbers speak for themselves about his current form: four wins, four pole positions, a total of eight podiums, and seven wins in sprint races. To top it off, he is giving a tough challenge to an official team rider – who is the reigning champion – while being part of a satellite team.
Records and performances that could then make Ducati consider swapping Bastianini for Martín in 2024 – especially if the Spaniard manages to win the title. For the rider, being in Pramac has the advantage of being in a structure that he already knows well and with strong factory support, despite not having the pressure that comes with being a rider for the official team.
