Jorge Martín dominated the MotoGP Japanese GP qualifying to secure pole position for the Motegi races. On his second lap, he set a new circuit record time that would never be surpassed.
Early in Q2, Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing Team/Ducati) lost the front of his bike and had a heavy crash. With no significant physical injuries, he quickly caught a ride back to the pits via the service road to return to his second bike.
