Jorge Martín leads the MotoGP World Championship after three rounds with a 21-point advantage. The season has started positively for the Prima Pramac Racing rider, but the calculations are still far from being made: there are 18 Grand Prix races left, which means 36 races.
Marco Melandri spoke to the website Motosan.es and recommended to the Spaniard to maintain the approach he has been taking, also focusing on maximizing his results when victory is out of reach:
– I think Martín has to race as he always has, always trying to achieve a victory, but as Kevin Schwantz said, you have to fight for the win when you can win and race for the championship when you can’t win.
The former rider emphasized the importance of achieving the best possible result when circumstances are less favorable: ‘Many times you win the championship on a bad day because you optimize the bad day. I lost many championships because of that. But I don’t know, I think it’s too early to think about that. We have to think day by day‘.
