The MotoGP test day in Jerez was not easy for Jorge Martín. The championship leader not only had an engine failure on his Ducati, but also suffered a crash. He ended up with the tenth fastest time.
The Prima Pramac Spaniard told the championship’s official website that, despite the less than ideal start, there were improvements: ‘It is true that we did not start in the best way, but then we did good work. I think we took good steps forward, we understood two things that can help me in Le Mans and the following races. So I feel that we improved our base a bit. Then we tried different things for the vibrations and they were good‘.
Regarding the crash, Martín commented: ‘In the end, I was testing a new part and I fell. I made a mistake because of the wind. The bike was shaking a bit and then I did not brake correctly, so I fell and that’s how it ended. But I think the performance was great, the pace was good, and we were focused on improving our bike‘.
As for whether the vibration issue was mitigated in this test, the 2023 runner-up stated: ‘I think so. This track was perfect because we had no vibrations, so I think it is returning to normal. Maybe we are getting used to the new bike, maybe the bike is also adapting to the tracks. But even if not, we have solutions. We tried different solutions in the test that can help us and make us even faster‘.
