Jorge Martín already has two podiums in the 2024 MotoGP season, including a victory, and after three rounds he leads the championship comfortably. The Prima Pramac rider has been the most consistent and is the only one who has not missed the top four.
Despite the 21-point lead, last year’s runner-up is aware that it is not a comfortable margin, easily erasable: ‘It’s easy to lose that advantage, it’s a very long year,’ he said as quoted by Motosan.es.
Regarding the Spanish GP, Martín admitted that winning will be a tough task: ‘As for the competition… it’s tough. We have Maverick [Viñales] and Enea [Bastianini] very close, they are the most consistent. Then Pedro [Acosta], also Marc [Márquez] is very fast here. Pecco [Bagnaia] will surely find the form and the way. It will be a very big challenge to win here, but we are prepared’.
For the Spaniard, this fourth round of the year could indeed be a turning point in the season: ‘This final return to Europe where we have already started racing very consecutively. Jerez is the cathedral, so to speak, along with Assen, and it is the turning point where you either show your skills, or you go backstage. We hope to start well’.
