Jorge Martín was the second fastest on the second day of MotoGP testing in Sepang and even broke the official circuit record lap. However, he was not very pleased, as he was unable to make a decision regarding the fairing to use.
The Prima Pramac Spaniard told the press: ‘I didn’t feel very good. It was a difficult day because we should have decided on the fairing and we didn’t. Tomorrow we still have work to do on this and understand if it’s better or if we’ll keep the old one for the first race‘.
According to Martín, the fairing makes the bike heavier and more difficult in some areas, but it also has advantages: ‘Well, I feel the bike a little heavier. The feeling on braking is a little better, but in the rest of the circuit I have a lot of difficulties. I hope that tomorrow we can understand the way forward and maybe by making some changes to the bike we can improve the feeling. We just need to keep working on this. I don’t want to waste too much time because we still have many things to try for tomorrow. But I think the fairing is a very important thing to try and understand‘.
Asked if the decision could be postponed to the Qatar tests, the 2023 vice-champion replied: ‘I think we can still try it in Qatar, but maybe we won’t have enough time. So it’s better if we decide something tomorrow‘.
