After leading the race throughout, losing that position, and even finishing outside of the top three in yesterday’s main race, Jorge Martín was naturally frustrated and did not hide it. The rider recalled his mistake in tire choice.
‘The truth is that it wasn’t a cold shower like in Indonesia, but I’m a bit frustrated because I was the fastest throughout the weekend and wasting the race like this… in the end we got points, it could have been worse. Now there are some very good tracks for me, I hope not to make the tire mistake again and be very focused because it is important to arrive with options in Valencia’, said the rider to DAZN.
Still, Martín believes that in the end it wouldn’t have been that different, but he admitted the mistake: ‘I wouldn’t have changed anything because I wouldn’t have had that margin and in the end it would have been the same. It’s obvious that it was a clear mistake. Maybe the strategy wasn’t right and the tire wasn’t right, because maybe with the other tire, if I had pushed in that way, I would have passed as well. So, since we don’t know, no one will ever know. Let’s hope that next year, here in Australia, we have the magic wand’
