The Catalunya MotoGP Grand Prix came to an end yesterday with the main race, and it’s time to take stock of the World Championships. The leaders remain the same, but the margins are different.
In the rider’s championship, with his retirement in the main race, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) saw his lead reduced. The Italian leads with a 50-point advantage over Jorge Martín (Pramac/Ducati) – who finished third in Barcelona. Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing Team/Ducati) remains in third, now 23 points ahead of Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM). With the victory, Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia) moved up to fifth.
Ducati solidified its lead in the Constructors’ World Championship with the 25 points scored in Catalunya, now 164 points ahead of KTM. Aprilia scored the most points, with 37, and is now third, 176 points behind the leader. By amassing nine points, Yamaha moved up to fourth and surpassed the 100-point mark. Honda is in last place.
As for the teams, Prima Pramac has strengthened its lead, now having 37 more points than Mooney VR46 Racing Team. Ducati remains the best factory structure, holding the third position 56 points behind the front. With the victory and the one-two finish, Aprilia solidified the fifth position and is only three points behind Red Bull KTM, which is in fourth.
