The MotoGP Spanish GP starts with Jorge Martín leading the championship. Despite missing the podium in the previous round, the Prima Pramac Racing rider has a 21-point lead over the second-placed Enea Bastianini (Ducati).
During a press conference, the Spanish rider didn’t hide his desire to finish in the top three in Jerez for the first time since he has been in the premier class, after limiting the damage at the Americas GP:
– Austin was a bit tough for me, even though I managed to recover after that crash in qualifying. I did my best at the start and finished fourth, good points for the championship. It’s true that the Spanish GP here in Jerez is always special. I think I only had one podium, in Moto2. So, it’s a good goal to get back on the podium here again, try to improve on last season’s results.
Martín then identified a particular aspect to improve in Jerez: ‘I remember I had a very good pace, a very competitive pace, but I struggled to overtake, so I will work hard on this aspect to try to be faster and try to get on the podium in both races‘.
