There is a new MotoGP title contender, and once again, aboard a Ducati, that is Jorge Lorenzo’s conviction regarding Marc Márquez who, for him, is ‘in better conditions and stronger’ than even Pecco Bagnaia, the current champion.
Lorenzo shared the garage with Márquez in 2019, in his last season before retiring and looking at #93 he had no doubts in considering the Spaniard a title contender, as he told DAZN, without forgetting the current title holder: ‘It’s only been two races and there’s still a long way to go. Pecco has shown impressive composure and serenity. Maybe he made some mistakes, like on Saturday in the Sprint race where he lost the victory and a small miscalculation of risk in that action with Márquez, but Pecco remains a great Champion, a very serene and cerebral rider’.
For Lorenzo, the now Gresini Racing rider, despite being on last year’s Desmosedici, remains the strongest: ‘On the other hand, Marc is doing very well with the Ducati, which is not easy. He has the 2023 bike and is therefore in a slightly inferior condition, although it is minimal. In my opinion, Marc is in better conditions and stronger. Therefore, Pecco and Marc will be among the favorites for the World Championship’.
After two rounds in the World Championship, Jorge Martín leads with 60 points, Bagnaia is fourth with 37, and Marc Márquez is sixth with 27.
