Jonathan Rea continues to search for the best form this year and admits that he is feeling better and better, especially with a round of the Superbikes world championship that is back, on a track he has very good memories of.
In a preview statement, the British Kawasaki rider fondly recalled the Spanish track and how he had good sensations when he rode there earlier this year: ‘Aragon is a very cool track, it’s a track I really like and it’s very challenging for a rider. I have great memories from the past and in fact, the first time I rode the Ninja ZX-10R was in Aragon and I remember fondly those first laps. I hope to recreate that feeling of really liking the bike. We did a test there during the summer break and it was positive. I felt fast and consistent’.
He then confessed that since roughly halfway through the season he has been improving and more synchronized with the bike:
– Since the middle of the season we have started to find some momentum with the bike setup. We have been working well as a team and have been able to fight for podiums. It is important to be strong, but also consistent. We now have two weekends of racing ahead and the goal is to maximize our opportunities to fight for the podium and continue to score important points.
Rea is third in the championship with 290 points, while Alvaro Bautista leads with 467.
