Jonathan Rea had an incident with Alex Lowes in the second race of the World Superbike Championship in Assen, which ultimately resulted in his teammate’s retirement.
The current rider for Pata Prometeon Yamaha said, quoted by the site GPOne.com, that he sees the incident as a racing incident with unwanted consequences for those involved:
– I braked late. He came, made a clean pass. But, at the clipping point, his bike touched mine. It’s too bad for him, as he’s fighting for the title, but also for me, since I already have problems and didn’t need another zero. But I have no hard feelings towards him. That can happen in a race.
The two Britons were teammates for a few years and Rea assured that everything is already cleared up: ‘In the closed park, he immediately came to apologize. It happened that I also hit him in the past. Hopefully nothing will happen between us again‘.
