After finishing seventh in the long race and 11th in the Sprint last year at the GP of the Americas, this season has been quite different for Johann Zarco, now on a different manufacturer and facing particular difficulties. His mindset is positive, with the Frenchman reiterating the need to keep an open mind and perhaps, as a rider, to bring a different perspective to the situation.
Regarding performance and still searching for the best, Zarco clarified that one must maintain a positive attitude: ‘I stay positive, there is no need to be pessimistic because we knew it would be difficult to evolve with this new project, Honda changed so many things… It’s easy to say but we need time, and that’s it’.
He continued, stating that compared to his opponents there is a noticeable difference, but he cannot speak about something that is not his responsibility: ‘The races where Honda was doing well are now the races where it is struggling, and when we compare with the other bikes we notice that something is missing: I cannot give a technical explanation, it’s not my job. […]. As long as I can put this energy into the bike and provide that explanation [to the team], because that’s my quality as a rider, we will move forward’.
After three rounds in the world championship, Zarco has only scored 5 points.
