Johann Zarco finished the MotoGP preseason official tests with the 17th time in Losail. The LCR Honda rider was the best of the Japanese manufacturer, even ahead of the two factory team riders, and is enjoying riding the bike that he is still getting to know.
The Frenchman ensured that the times were not his focus at this stage and he is having good sensations on the bike: ‘During the Grand Prix, we will really attack, be more focused to achieve a better lap time and be more competitive, and then maybe work on some adjustments to give me even more possibilities on the bike. But everything that Honda needed to test, we managed to do it, and from this I believe they have good information and I am really confident with them to improve – because the feeling on the bike is very good. I can enjoy it, I repeat that I can enjoy it on the bike. It’s just that sometimes the lap time doesn’t come. At least this helps to continue working well and give the best possible feedback’.
Regarding the crash he had in the last minutes of the test, Zarco explained that he believes he could have done a better time at that time: ‘I had a crash with my last tire, even on my last lap trying to achieve something better. It was possible to improve and go below 1m52s, but I made a mistake by going a little wide. It happens and at least what is good is trying to see what happens. It was almost the right moment to do it’.
