The Portuguese MotoGP Grand Prix proved to be challenging once again for Honda. Joan Mir was their best rider, finishing 12th in the main race at Portimão, but he is still far from satisfied.
Asked if the changes made for the Portuguese race made him feel more comfortable, the rider from Mallorca spoke about improvements with the front end. However, he emphasized that it is still far from being enough:
– Especially with the front end. I was able to turn more with the front end, to turn a bit better. The grip is not there. Everything we do is not good. I honestly hope to improve in this direction. I believe that also in the change of direction the bike is heavier than last year – heavier to ride, not the bike itself, because of the wings, probably the engine. If it’s heavier, we have to work on this for Austin, because it’s a track where the bike usually works very well. But this [Portimão] was also a track that I enjoyed last year and not so much this year. So, let’s see what we can do there.
