The AMA Supercross 450 had another round this weekend, the fifth, this time in Detroit where Jett Lawrence beat everyone in the main race of the night, finishing with over a 4-second lead over the (once again) championship leader, Chase Sexton.
The main event of the night at Ford Field had Jett Lawrence leading in the first race, with Eli Tomac and Chase Sexton closely following the Honda rider.
#18 wasted no time and started to pull away from the competition early on, with Sexton being the main pursuer after overtaking Tomac. Ken Roczen was also performing well, overtaking Cooper Webb and Jason Anderson, and then Aaron Plessinger, Dylan Ferrandis, Hunter Lawrence, and Justin Cooper.
Lawrence was completely unstoppable and ended up leading all 28 laps in Detroit, and it was no surprise that he ultimately claimed the overall victory, earning 25 points for the second time this year. Sexton and Roczen finished in the remaining podium positions, respectively.
In terms of the overall championship standings, Sexton, after earning another 22 points, rose to the top position with 98 points, one more than J. Lawrence with 97. Plessinger finished the day in sixth and dropped to third place in the overall standings with 96.
