The SX Daytona International Speedway hosted another round of the AMA Supercross 450, with Jett Lawrence being the standout. Although he didn’t lead every lap, the rookie once again won the main event of the night and strengthened his lead in the championship.
The main event of the weekend that everyone was waiting for started with a last-minute change before its official start, with Jett Lawrence changing his rear tires after the warm-up lap, and with the gates opening shortly after it was precisely Lawrence, Eli Tomac, Chase Sexton and Dylan Ferrandis moving to the front of the race, with the #1 taking the lead. Tomac followed closely and Ferrandis secured third place, leaving Lawrence in fourth. The crowd cheered as Sexton and Tomac passed through different lines on the divided track, receiving the green flag in a great moment at Daytona. Surprising the audience, Ken Roczen entered the battle alongside Jett Lawrence and Ferrandis, claiming the fourth position as the race intensified. Tomac gained ground on Sexton, but a sudden maneuver by Lawrence in the long rhythm after the mechanics’ area led him to pass Tomac and then Sexton in a breathtaking sequence to take the lead. In an incredible display of skill, the #18 increased the gap, leaving the competition further behind, with Tomac overtaking Sexton shortly after and reaching second place, however far from Lawrence who already had a “comfortable” advantage. The race would end with the victory smiling at the Honda rider with a 5.889s advantage over Tomac, while Sexton took the last place on the podium.
