Jake Dixon remains in a hospital in Qatar, following the dramatic crash he suffered during Saturday’s practice session of the Moto2 World Championship at Losail – almost a week ago. A lung injury prevents the CFMoto Aspar rider from making the journey back home.

The British rider took to social media to provide an update on his condition: ‘I wasn’t allowed to fly home because I had some things wrong with me from such a massive crash and a big impact. But the main thing was my lung, I wasn’t fit to fly. We have a slight problem with that and they said it was not safe to fly. We have some more scans coming Sunday to understand when exactly I can fly home’.

In the same message, Dixon took the opportunity to express his gratitude: ‘I want to thank everyone who’s involved, all the medical staff, all Dorna medical staff, MotoGP, everyone involved to get me to the hospital safely, to get all the correct scans and made sure that I’m in the best safe hands possible. And obviously thank you to my team as well and my management that helped not only me, but also my wife Sarah because she was there alone. A massive thanks for the support as well. It’s a really frustrating time. Obviously I’m very thankful to be relatively okay after this crash. […]. I’m on the road to recover and hopefully we have some good news soon’.
