Jack Miller scored in the Sprint race of the MotoGP Americas GP. The Red Bull KTM man finished in seventh place, losing sixth place to Enea Bastianini (Ducati) very close to the end.
For the Australian, the result and performance met the minimum satisfaction: ‘I am pleased enough with the result. We wanted a bit more. It was good to fight with Enea, would have loved to try to keep him behind me, but it wasn’t meant to be. We will try our best to improve for the main race‘.
And one of the shortcomings is identified by Miller, as he stated: ‘I was giving up too much in the last sector, especially to Aleix’s Aprilia [Espargaró]; I felt it was like 0.3s or 0.4s in that long right turn. So if we can try to correct that, then we should be in better shape for the main race‘.
Next, #43 commented: ‘I had some vibrations on the left side of the rear tire. The rear tire was also a bit worn on the right side. So, not good, but I think it will be a different tune in the main race. I didn’t feel bad, it didn’t seem to be affecting me that much‘.
There was still time for Miller to explain in more detail the difficulties he felt: ‘I feel like I’m really trying to kill myself to try, let’s say, to recover what I’m losing, just so I don’t have that yo-yo effect, not have to kill the front tire always on the way to turn 11/turn 12, especially in the final phase of braking. If we can try to do that, I feel like it will save us from a lot of problems. I’m just struggling; many riders are able to accelerate very early in the middle of the turn, and I don’t know if it has to do with the wind, or the track, or whatever, but I’m really struggling to accelerate. It’s just like a constant around the turn. I just see the bike slipping away from me and I can’t do anything about it. So, it’s annoying, it’s frustrating, but we’ll try to fix it as best as we can‘.
