Already in India preparing for the next GP this weekend, Jack Miller recalled how the tests in Misano were useful, with him focusing on his evolution with the KTM RC16.
The Australian started by recalling: ‘The test [in Misano] came at a very good time. It could have come three weeks earlier but it was necessary for me to have the freedom to… well, I think we did close to 300 laps just on Monday. The grip… well, it wasn’t that fantastic. At the beginning, the track was very dirty at the start of the test but quickly improved as the test went on’.
Most of the work was more in his individual way of riding, as he recalled, without being concerned about his lap times: ‘I was happy with the progress we made: focused on the bike, we made so many changes in the last few weeks to try to change the bike, and I believe it was more about myself trying to understand how I could improve and have the chance to go out and test some things, five laps at a time to try to find the rhythm and something here and there without worrying about what position you are in the timesheet, it made a difference for me’.
And he concluded: ‘I am looking forward to applying what we have learned and of course using new things, when they arrive of course. KTM didn’t reveal much, left the door slightly open, and that’s always good. Happy that we had this opportunity and good conditions to test as we did’.
