After five seasons aboard Ducati bikes, Jack Miller had an adaptation to make to the KTM in MotoGP in 2023. Despite the progress throughout the year, he is still not “on point,” admitting that it is an ongoing process.
In an interview with the site SPEEDWEEK.com, the Australian explained that he had to adapt to the bike and adjust the bike to his needs: ‘If you look at the tests, I didn’t feel comfortable overall. I learned, did laps to understand the bike and what needed to change in the way of riding to make it work best with this bike – and what needed to change in the bike to fit it to my riding style in the best possible way‘.
Recognizing that it is rare to immediately adapt to a new bike, especially after many years with only one manufacturer, Miller explained how he adapts: ‘Working, working in the winter, making every effort and trying to understand the bike better and make it mine. We managed to do this early and then reached a higher limit in a certain aspect. During the season, the level keeps increasing. […]. The more races you do and the more time you spend on the bike, the more comfortable you feel. […]. I myself have the feeling that things have progressed again since Japan. Then, the question is, when everything is new and you are trying to discover new things and find that little extra and that little extra confidence, it’s complicated. Definitely still in the process‘.
