This winter, Jack Miller suffered a fracture in the scaphoid bone of his left hand while training motocross. It is an injury with the potential to bring some complications, but that was not the case for the Australian.
The Red Bull KTM rider told the press that he didn’t immediately notice the injury: ‘I fractured my scaphoid bone practically as soon as I got home. It was raining and I decided that day that I was going to ride the motocross bike.’ […]. ‘It was a bit wet.’ […]. ‘I fractured my scaphoid bone. At the time, I didn’t know, I lifted the bike, rode for another 20 minutes, and then I got home and washed the bike. And then I was taking care of Pip [daughter] and my nephew and it swelled a lot. So I went to the hospital, when I got to the hospital I was practically immediately examined’.
According to Miller, the injury did not require much care, nor did it have a significant impact on training: ‘I was back on the bike the next day, it didn’t really affect anything other than some weightlifting with the right part of my left hand. But I quickly recovered from that. Riding in Sepang was not a problem’.
