After leaving the Ducati factory at the end of 2022 to return to KTM, Jack Miller was considered by many to be “ruining” his career. After the last race of the season, the Australian had no problem stating that he is now a better rider, and emphasizing his happiness in seeing those “doomsayers” proven wrong.
In Valencia, the rider was asked if he believes he is now a better rider, to which he replied: ‘I think so. I feel like every year I have been improving more and more. And yes, if we look at the results on paper, this year is probably the worst in recent times. But we had many changes, we had many difficulties this season. But we also overcame many things’.
Afterwards, he reminded people who spoke of misfortune to #43: ‘Many people said 12 months ago that I would be unemployed by this time last year. So, I am happy to prove them wrong, happy to show that KTM is indeed a highly sought-after bike now and will continue to grow like this’.
And he concluded, with an analogy about the Roman Empire:
– Rome wasn’t built in a day. We had a very busy first year and it will be another busy winter, but the boys know which areas we need to improve and I also know where I need to improve as a rider.
It is worth remembering that KTM was in a dilemma for 2024 with the confirmation that Pedro Acosta would be in MotoGP, even though the team had no place to put him, so rumors pointed to a possible substantial increase in Miller’s salary, doubling it, with him doing many races as a wildcard.
However, this scenario did not materialize, as the Spaniard was later confirmed at GASGAS, in place of Pol Espargaró.
