Marc Márquez may have finished in the top five in qualifying for the Italian MotoGP, but in previous rounds he has shown some difficulties in setting fast laps – missing Q2 at both the French GP and the Catalan GP.
The Gresini Spaniard admitted in a press conference that his riding style is still very much linked to the Honda, with lap times being achieved in a different way:
– I have a riding style that is made for Honda, riding the same bike for ten years. And all the lap time was on the entry, going in. And it’s one of my strong points now in Ducati, but is one of my weak points on a fast lap.
That said, Márquez believes that improvements can be made not only through his riding, but also through the bike: ‘I need to try to improve my riding style, and also with the base set-up we can improve a bit. We have a few ideas there from my technicians. Let’s see if we can to improve a bit the lap time’.
