Rumors about BMW’s entry into MotoGP have been gaining strength. The new regulations that will be introduced in 2027 could be the catalyst for the Bavarian manufacturer to compete in the premier category – adding to the program it currently has in the World Superbike Championship.
For now, everything is just speculation. BMW is already a strong partner of MotoGP, providing the official safety car and sponsoring the BMW M Award – with a car from the brand being awarded to the best qualifying rider at the end of each season.
Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna, was asked by the website GPOne.com about the possibility of BMW entering MotoGP. The Spanish executive was cautious, but acknowledged the importance of the Germans and the joining of more manufacturers:
– One thing is being possible, another is being viable. It is obvious that we have to wait for the new regulations that will be published soon, I believe we will not have to wait more than a month or a month and a half, and then manufacturers can consider the possibilities. It would be important for other manufacturers to enter and BMW is a very important manufacturer.
