Despite being the champion, Jorge Martín was not Ducati's choice for the 2025 MotoGP season, with Marc Márquez being the preferred rider for the Borgo Panigale manufacturer.

Martín's legitimate ambition to join Ducati’s factory team was once again unfulfilled, leading him to move to Aprilia. Fonsi Nieto, who worked with Martín at Prima Pramac, shared his thoughts with Europa Press:

– Ducati is currently in a moment of glory and will continue fighting to win. But, of course, it wasn't easy for them to decide to let go of a rider like Jorge, a world champion. However, we are talking about Marc Márquez, an eight-time world champion with an incredible image. It's even understandable that they chose Marc Márquez.

The former rider considers Márquez ‘one of the best riders in history’ and believes that the #93 must be considered a contender for top positions.
