Last Thursday, Danilo Petrucci suffered significant injuries due to a crash while training in motocross. The World Superbike Championship rider broke his jaw, a collarbone, and a shoulder, and has already undergone surgery. However, the recovery will be lengthy and requires another surgery.
The Italian from the Barni Spark Racing Team took to social media to provide an update on his health. In a post accompanied by a photo from the hospital, he wrote:
– During motocross training on the Cingoli track I lost control of the bike before a jump, and so instead of braking the bike accelerated… I jumped a lot and crashed to the ground. It was one of the scariest falls of my life. I cracked some teeth, the jaw in two parts, a clavicle and a shoulder along with various skin cuts. Thank you for all the messages, I hope to be back smiling soon.
Then, this Saturday, Petrucci wrote a new update: ‘I’m going to try to eat again today… I never did that from a syringe. […]. I can’t write and speak well, but I’m getting better and next time I’ll have clavicle surgery. Thanks again to those close to me’.
The next round of the World Superbike Championship (WSBK) is just a week away in Assen, so Petrux’s absence is more than certain. After that, he will have about two months to recover until the next race, scheduled for mid-June.
