The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team rider finished in 13th position at the Spanish Grand Prix, managing to complete the race despite pain from the crash suffered on Saturday. Rins also praised the performance of his teammate, Fabio Quartararo.

Spanish rider Álex Rins managed to finish the race in Jerez despite physical limitations. ‘Difficult. It was quite difficult to manage all the pain and how the body is after the big impact we had on Saturday. But I was able to finish the race. I didn’t make any local injection on the knee, for example. This is great, but I feel tired. Normal,’ explained the Yamaha rider.

When asked about his performance during the race, Rins expressed satisfaction with some overtakes he managed to execute, but regretted losing a position on the final lap: ‘I made some overtakes, and unluckily Marc Márquez overtook me on turn eleven in the last lap, so I lost one position. But anyway, it was positive.’

The rider also revealed that the team made some adjustments to the bike compared to the previous day. ‘We changed the setup a little bit compared to Saturday because, as I said, I wasn’t 100% happy,’ stated Rins, who didn’t fail to congratulate his teammate. ‘Congrats to Fabio Quartararo. He deserves it. This is an unbelievable boost for all the team. Wow.’

When the press questioned him about Yamaha’s good performance, considering that Quartararo managed to defend against the Ducatis, Rins didn’t hesitate to confirm the progress: ‘Yeah. Pretty good step forward. I mean, we don’t have anything new in this race. Just, I don’t know… It’s Jerez, maybe the people’.
