Enea Bastianini finishes his first season as a factory Ducati rider this weekend. It was a year marked by many physical problems that kept him off the track for several months, but with the victory in Malaysia as the highlight.
The Italian highlighted that he wants to finish the season on a positive note after the various difficulties: ‘We have reached the last race of the season. It has been a very complicated year for us and I would like to close it in the best possible way‘.
After a round in Qatar that didn’t go well for him, Bastianini hopes to find a good speed from the start in Valencia, as he stated: ‘Last weekend in Qatar it took us a long time to find our speed: on Friday we missed out on Q2 because of yellow flags, and on Saturday morning I was blocked in Q1 by another rider, but in any case I didn’t have the same pace as the others. Then, on Sunday, in the second half of the race my feeling changed and I was able to have a competitive pace. The team is working these days to understand why and in Valencia we will try to be fast right from the free practice on Friday‘.
