The Americas GP showed a Honda at the back of the pack, without pace to fight for more than trying to escape the last positions. Luca Marini was the only rider from the Japanese manufacturer to finish, both in the Sprint race and in the main race.
Asked if the RC213V engine is one of the areas to be worked on, #10 replied: ‘It’s time to bring everything new, it’s not just the engine. We are struggling everywhere, we need to understand why everyone has improved so much compared to last year‘.
Based on the case of the Americas GP, Marini stated: ‘I think the tires and the track here [in Austin] especially have improved a lot. And we are missing something, because I think this year the bike is different, but not in a good way‘.
According to the Italian, qualities of the bike have been lost and the flaws have not been sufficiently improved: ‘We lost our strengths from last year’s bike, but we gained something in the weaknesses compared to last year’s bike. But we haven’t gained enough‘.
